Toyota, General Motors, Lexus, KTM, Volvo, and Hyundai Issue Vehicle Recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued multiple recalls affecting vehicles from Toyota, General Motors, Lexus, KTM, Volvo, and Hyundai. These recalls address various issues ranging from brake problems to seat belt defects and software glitches.
Toyota Tacoma Recall (106,061 Vehicles)
Toyota has recalled certain 2024-2025 Tacoma 4-wheel drive trucks due to a potential brake issue. The location of the brake components may cause damage if mud and dirt build up when the truck is taken off-road. Over time, this could lead to brake fluid leaks, reduced brake performance, and increased stopping distances. Dealers will replace the brake hoses free of charge. Notification letters will be mailed on March 24.
General Motors Sierra Recall (70,768 Vehicles)
General Motors is recalling 2022 Sierra 1500 trucks produced after the trucks’ mid-cycle enhancement. The trucks are equipped with chrome front grille deflectors that may fracture and detach from the vehicle. This poses a potential hazard to both the occupants of the truck and other road users. Trucks without chrome grille deflectors are not affected by the recall. A remedy is currently being developed, and owner notification letters will be sent on March 24.
Lexus Seat Belt Recall (40,922 Vehicles)
Toyota’s luxury brand, Lexus, has recalled certain vehicles for a defect in the second-row center seat belt webbing. The damage is due to incorrect tooling during manufacturing. Dealers will replace the seat belt assembly free of charge. Notification letters will be sent on March 24.
KTM Husqvarna and GASGAS Motorcycle Recall (5,116 Motorcycles)
KTM North America has recalled certain Husqvarna and GASGAS motorcycles due to a potentially broken front brake caliper. This defect could result in reduced braking performance and increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the front brake caliper if necessary. Owner notification letters will be sent on April 7.
Volvo EX90 Recall (2,061 Vehicles)
Volvo has recalled certain 2025 EX90 vehicles due to a software issue that can cause the headlight shutters to close over the high and low beams while driving. This could significantly impair visibility and increase the risk of a crash. The software can be fixed through an over-the-air update or at a dealership free of charge. Owner notification letters will be mailed on April 3.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 Recall (1,508 Vehicles)
Hyundai is recalling certain 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 N vehicles equipped with left-foot braking over a software issue. During certain driving maneuvers, the integrated electronic brake control software may depressurize the anti-lock braking system. Drivers are advised not to use the feature until a remedy has been implemented. Dealers will update the software free of charge. Notification letters will be mailed on April 7.
