Former Squad Members Launch Podcast on Zeteo

Introduction

Former Representatives Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman, once members of the progressive "Squad" in the US Congress, have launched a new YouTube podcast entitled "Bowman and Bush." The podcast, hosted on the platform of progressive media company Zeteo, will delve into the inner workings of Congress and the influence of special interest groups.

The Squad

The Squad, founded in 2019, originally comprised four Democratic women: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Ilhan Omar (MN), Ayanna Pressley (MA), and Rashida Tlaib (MI). Bush and Bowman joined the group after the 2020 election. Their progressive agenda focused on issues such as social justice, healthcare, and climate change.

Bush and Bowman’s Departure from Congress

In 2024, Bush and Bowman lost their bids for re-election. The races were heavily influenced by political dynamics surrounding Israel, with pro-Israel groups spending significant sums to oppose them. According to The Hill, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its affiliated super PAC, United Democracy Project (UDP), invested $9 million in opposing Bush’s reelection.

Podcast Announcement

On Thursday, Bush took to Instagram to announce the launch of "Bowman and Bush." Posting an introductory video to the Zeteo YouTube channel, she wrote, "I’m beyond excited to announce the launch of our brand new monthly show, Bowman and Bush, exclusively on Zeteo!"

Zeteo is the media company founded by former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan. Hasan welcomed the duo to his platform, stating on Twitter, "Exciting news from Zeteo! Former Congress/Squad members @coribush & @jamaalbowmanNY will be launching a new monthly YouTube show for us."

Podcast Content

Bush described the podcast’s content as "real talk, insider insights, and a look behind the curtain." She added, "Tune in as @jamaalbowmanny and I dive deep into what’s really happening in Congress and explore the powerful influence of big money."

Additional Controversy Surrounding Bush

Bush is currently facing a Justice Department investigation into her campaign spending on private security. Recent filings show that she has paid her husband, Cortney Merritts, an additional $17,500 from her committee. This follows a series of payments to Merritts over the past two years.

Fox News Contribution

The report includes contributions from Fox News journalists Joe Schoffstall and Peter Kasperowicz.

Conclusion

The launch of the "Bowman and Bush" podcast marks a new chapter for the former Squad members, offering them a platform to share their perspectives on Congress and the influence of special interests. The podcast is expected to provide insights into the political landscape and the challenges facing progressive voices in American politics.
