USGLC Unveils Blueprint for American Global Leadership Amid Rising Geopolitical Threats
The United States faces escalating threats to its national security from global adversaries, prompting the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) to release a comprehensive blueprint designed to guide the nation toward international assistance programs that bolster American dominance on the world stage. In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, USGLC President Liz Schrayer emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the proactive strategies of competitor nations.
"We were really interested in writing a blueprint for how America can win in the world in light of the fact that our competitors – you know, China, Russia, Iran, North Korea – are out there playing to win. They are aligned against her interests," Schrayer stated.
The USGLC’s "Blueprint for America to Win in the World" outlines ten key recommendations for the Trump administration and Congress to ensure that U.S. international assistance effectively serves the American people. The central focus of the blueprint is reforming, rather than reducing, U.S. international assistance programs to enhance their impact and align them with strategic interests.
Schrayer underscored the alignment of the blueprint with President Trump’s "Peace through Strength" approach, which aims to outcompete rivals like China and position the United States at the forefront of global leadership. "These resources that deliver exactly what President Trump has said he wants to do in terms of peace through strength, which is to outcompete our rivals in China, put America at the front line of delivering for the American people. So, at the end of the day, this is reform, not retreat," she asserted.
The blueprint also resonates with Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s vision for utilizing international assistance to strengthen, secure, and enhance the prosperity of the United States. Schrayer affirmed that President Trump’s "Peace through Strength" objectives are perfectly aligned with the current global landscape.
The USGLC’s ten recommendations encompass a range of strategic initiatives, including:
- Unleashing the private sector to drive economic growth and development in partner countries.
- Promoting "burden sharing" with allies to foster collaborative approaches to global challenges.
- Aligning U.S. international assistance with strategic interests to maximize its impact on American objectives.
- Targeting the root causes of instability to prevent conflicts and humanitarian crises.
The organization emphasizes that its blueprint is designed to equip America with the necessary tools for both offensive and defensive strategies. "Targeted, accountable international investments are essential to defend a stable, America-First world order. We are not talking about bureaucratic giveaways without oversight. … An engaged America means safer communities at home and abroad," stated former Sen. Norman Coleman, co-chair of the USGLC.
Schrayer has already begun presenting these ideas to lawmakers on Capitol Hill during budget season, emphasizing the timeliness of the blueprint. While feedback is still being gathered, one particular proposal has garnered widespread support: the creation of a distinct American brand or logo to clearly identify the source of foreign assistance as the United States and its people.
Schrayer highlighted the importance of taking credit for American assistance, noting that adversaries like China readily promote their contributions. "We should have one American flag with a tagline that says, ‘From the American people.’ Too often, when you go out, its a little bit confusing that its from the American people because sometimes you can go to a site, and you can see a lot of logos of what were doing. So, I think theres a lot of consensus around that one in particular," Schrayer explained.
The USGLC has received endorsements for its blueprint from military leaders and national security experts. Former NATO Commander General Philip Breedlove emphasized the necessity of American engagement, stating, "You’ve heard over and over again that nature abhors a vacuum; if we are not engaged, someone else will be. There are lots of countries that have lots more nefarious goals when they go out and engage."
The USGLC’s blueprint arrives at a critical juncture, as the United States grapples with increasing global competition and complex security challenges. By advocating for strategic reforms to international assistance programs and emphasizing the importance of American leadership, the USGLC aims to ensure that the nation remains a dominant force on the world stage, effectively safeguarding its interests and promoting a more stable and prosperous global order. The focus on accountability, strategic alignment, and collaboration with allies underscores a commitment to maximizing the impact of American investments in international development and security. The blueprint also addresses concerns regarding the visibility of American contributions, advocating for clear branding to ensure that recipient nations recognize and appreciate the source of assistance. This initiative reflects a broader effort to counter the influence of rival nations and reinforce America’s image as a reliable and benevolent partner in global affairs. By actively engaging with lawmakers and national security experts, the USGLC seeks to translate its blueprint into concrete policy changes that will strengthen America’s position in the world. The emphasis on reform, rather than retreat, signals a commitment to proactive engagement and a recognition that international assistance is a vital tool for advancing American interests and promoting global stability.
