Upscale Ukrainian Resort Emerges Amidst War

Amidst War, Ukraine Embarks on Ambitious Tourism Project in Western Carpathians

Amidst the ongoing struggle against the Russian invasion, Ukraine has initiated the construction of a new resort destination in the western Carpathian Mountains, bordering the European Union.

According to Wassyl Danyljak, CEO of the Okko Group, the first phase of the project involves the establishment of a hotel complex, marking a "strategically significant step" towards developing a world-class, year-round resort.

International Collaboration and Investment

The project benefits from the expertise of Austrian consultants and aims to create 25 hotels with over 5,000 rooms over the next 15 years. Ski lifts and trails will complement the facilities, spanning an area of 127 hectares.

The total cost of the project is estimated at over €1.45 billion, with the Okko Group investing a third from its own resources and loans. The remaining funds will be sought from investors.

Location and Development

The new resort complex is located near the village of Volosianka in the Lviv region, approximately 50 kilometers from the Polish border. The mountains in this area reach altitudes of just over 1,200 meters.

Resilience and Opportunity

Despite the ongoing conflict, the Carpathian region has been largely spared from Russian missile and drone attacks. The Ukrainian government views the development of tourism infrastructure as an opportunity to stimulate the local economy and showcase the country’s natural beauty.

Significance and Impact

The construction of the resort destination represents a bold statement of resilience and optimism from Ukraine amidst the ongoing crisis. It demonstrates the country’s determination to rebuild and invest in its future.

Supporting Ukraine’s Economy

The development of the resort is expected to create jobs and boost the local economy. It will also attract domestic and international tourists, generating revenue for the region.

Promoting Tourism and Cultural Exchange

The resort is designed to cater to a wide range of visitors, from families and skiers to conference attendees and nature enthusiasts. It provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and showcases the unique landscapes and traditions of Western Ukraine.

Environmental Considerations

The project team emphasizes sustainable practices and eco-friendly construction techniques. They aim to minimize the environmental impact of the development and preserve the natural beauty of the area.

Conclusion

The construction of the new resort destination in the Western Carpathians is a testament to Ukraine’s resilience and commitment to progress. It demonstrates the country’s ability to invest in its future while preserving its natural heritage. The resort is expected to become a major tourist attraction, supporting the local economy and promoting international tourism.
