He further announced that both he and Putin had agreed to "have our respective teams start negotiations immediately." He mentioned that he planned to contact President Zelenskyy to inform him of the conversation and initiate the negotiations.
Later on Wednesday, Trump reported that his call with Zelenskyy had been "very successful."

President Zelenskyy’s office later released a statement acknowledging the phone call with Trump and expressing support for peace negotiations. The statement emphasized the need for a cease-fire and the withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukrainian territory.
