Tesla Cybertruck Crash: Driver Had Double Legal Alcohol Limit, Cocaine in System

Fatal Tesla Cybertruck Crash: Driver’s Intoxication Revealed

Background

A fiery Tesla Cybertruck crash in Northern California last year tragically claimed the lives of three young individuals. The victims, identified as Soren Dixon, Jack Nelson, and Krysta Tsukahara, were all recent graduates of Piedmont High School. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. in the affluent community of Piedmont, located within the enclave of Oakland in Alameda County.

Autopsy and Toxicology Results

Recent autopsy and toxicology results obtained by USA TODAY from the Alameda County Coroner’s Office shed light on the circumstances surrounding the crash. According to the report, Dixon, who was behind the wheel at the time of the accident, had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.195%, which is more than twice the legal limit for drivers in California (0.08%). Additionally, the report revealed the presence of cocaine in Dixon’s system.

Preliminary Investigation

A preliminary investigation conducted by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) suggests that the Cybertruck jumped a curb, struck a tree and retaining wall, and eventually came to a stop with the front end of the vehicle partially wrapped around the tree. The impact and resulting friction are believed to have ignited the vehicle, leading to the catastrophic fire that engulfed the Cybertruck.

Witness Accounts and Survivor Testimony

According to witness accounts, the Cybertruck was traveling at an excessive speed before the crash. A fourth individual present in the SUV, who miraculously survived the incident, was pulled from the burning wreckage at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital. The survivor was later identified as Jordan Miller, a 20-year-old sophomore at the University of Wisconsin, by his mother, Samantha Miller.

Legal Implications

The revelation of Dixon’s BAC and the presence of cocaine in his system raises questions about the driver’s state of mind and level of impairment at the time of the crash. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the incident to determine whether criminal charges are warranted.

Community Impact

The tragic loss of these three young lives has deeply impacted the Piedmont community. Family and friends of the victims are devastated, and the high school where they graduated has set up a memorial fund in their honor. The incident has also sparked discussions about the dangers of impaired driving and the need for increased vigilance on the roads.

Ongoing Investigation

The CHP is continuing its investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Factors such as the vehicle’s speed, the road conditions, and any potential mechanical malfunctions are being considered. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has also sent a team to assist in the investigation.

As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge about the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. The findings will help to shed light on the causes of the crash and provide valuable insights into ways to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
