Taylor Swift’s Former Cape Cod Mansion Back on the Market for $14.5 Million

A piece of pop culture history is up for grabs on Cape Cod. The waterfront mansion once inhabited by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Taylor Swift during her summer romance with Conor Kennedy in 2012 has been listed for a cool $14.5 million. Located at 27 Marchant Avenue in the exclusive Hyannis Port, the property offers a glimpse into the past, albeit with a modern twist, as it has been significantly renovated since Swift’s brief residency.

The 5,064 square-foot home, currently on the market for just a few weeks, holds more than just real estate value; it carries a celebrity connection and a whisper of a bygone romance. Robert B. Kinlin, the property’s listing agent, confirmed Swift’s former connection to the house. "It’s no secret that she was dating one of the Kennedy kids. And when that ended, someone else stepped in and bought this, and that person who stepped in and bought it is also selling it now," Kinlin stated.

The property boasts an impressive array of features that define luxurious coastal living. The home includes eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms, providing ample space for family and guests. A sun-drenched sunroom offers a tranquil space to relax and soak in the Cape Cod atmosphere, while an outdoor pool provides a refreshing escape during the summer months. Guest quarters offer additional privacy and comfort for visitors. The circular driveway and a three-vehicle garage add to the convenience and functionality of the estate.

Beyond the impressive amenities, the property’s location is truly exceptional. Situated in the heart of Hyannis Port, the waterfront estate offers panoramic views across Nantucket Sound, providing a breathtaking backdrop for everyday life. The property also sits within eyeline of the famed Kennedy Compound, further adding to its historical significance and allure.

While the house retains its original charm, it has undergone significant renovations since Swift’s time there. Kinlin, who facilitated the original sale, noted that the current owners have breathed new life into the property. "Taylor had it, it was very nice, but it was older, looking dated," Kinlin explained. "This couple breathed new energy and blood into the place. And even though the floor plan is relatively the same, the decorating is very different, very soothing."

Kinlin estimates that Swift resided at 27 Marchant Avenue for approximately six to eight months during her relationship with Conor Kennedy. Interestingly, Kinlin never personally met Swift during the initial sale. Instead, he worked directly with her father, Scott Swift, who handled the negotiations on his daughter’s behalf. "I saw her from a distance, but all the rigmarole that goes along with purchasing a home, I worked with her dad," Kinlin said.

Swift and Conor Kennedy’s relationship, though brief, captured the attention of the public. Newsweek reported that the couple dated from July to October 2012, making headlines with their whirlwind romance. The late Ethel Kennedy, Conor’s grandmother, spoke fondly of Swift in an October 2012 interview with The Cape Cod Times, describing her as "spectacular" and "sensational inside and out." She further praised Swift’s adventurous spirit, noting, "You know what she really is? She’s game. She had never sailed before; she sailed. She had never gone dragging before; she dragged. She played anything that everyone else was doing. And she was good at it, and no fuss. And I’m happy that we’ll be neighbors. I’m thrilled."

Despite the initial excitement, the couple’s relationship ended that fall, reportedly due to distance, according to US Weekly. However, Swift’s time on Cape Cod seemingly left a lasting impression. She reportedly immortalized her experiences with the Kennedys in two tracks: "Starlight" and "Begin Again," both featured on her 2012 album "Red." The songs are rumored to be inspired by her time in Hyannis Port and the Kennedy family.

The landmark estate, while renovated, retains its original character. Kinlin emphasized the careful approach taken during the remodeling process. "The architect and the builder did a terrific job of maintaining the era that the house was built, which was 1928, and keeping the inside and the outside of the property kind of like quintessential Cape Cod," Kinlin said. "It’s very appealing on the inside and it’s very appealing on the outside."

The property at 27 Marchant Avenue offers a unique blend of luxury, history, and celebrity appeal. Its prime location, stunning views, and recent renovations make it an attractive prospect for discerning buyers seeking a quintessential Cape Cod estate with a touch of glamour. Whether drawn by its architectural charm, its connection to the Kennedy family, or its past as a temporary haven for Taylor Swift, this Hyannis Port mansion is sure to captivate those seeking a piece of coastal paradise. The sale presents a rare opportunity to own a property with not just stunning aesthetics, but also an intriguing backstory interwoven with threads of fame, family, and fleeting romance. For those with the means, it’s more than just a house; it’s a chance to own a small piece of American pop culture history.
