Saxony-Anhalt Considers Statewide Taser Deployment: Police Survey Initiated
Introduction
In a bid to gauge the feasibility of introducing Tasers statewide, the Saxony-Anhalt Interior Minister, Tamara Zieschang (CDU), has initiated an anonymous online survey among police officers. Presently, only the special forces unit within the Saxony-Anhalt police force has access to Tasers, also known as Distanzelektroimpulsgeräten. However, the Minister revealed that the devices have only been deployed in two instances.
The survey among police officers is intended to gather their perspectives and professional insights regarding the potential statewide use of Tasers. "The so-called Taser is a much-discussed and controversial tool," said Zieschang. "Therefore, we want to obtain the opinions and expert knowledge of our colleagues at a very early stage."

Tasers are non-lethal weapons that deploy electrical shocks from a distance, causing intense muscle contractions that typically incapacitate individuals.
