The Berlin Fire Department reported that there were approximately 25 accidents during the night leading into Friday. Two individuals sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals.
Snowplow Overturns
A snowplow overturned during the treacherous weather conditions. A slightly injured individual was able to free themselves from the vehicle, according to the fire department. The plow was subsequently righted.
Vehicles Collide with Streetcar Tracks
Several cars collided with streetcar tracks, indicating that drivers were struggling to navigate the obscured roadways due to the snow.
Intersection Collision in Spandau
In the Spandau district, a car collided with a truck at an intersection. One person was injured and transported to a hospital for treatment.
Cyclist Injured in Lankwitz
Earlier in the day, a 41-year-old cyclist fell and sustained injuries in Lankwitz due to the slippery conditions.
Additional Traffic Incidents
The Berlin Police Department confirmed that there were several other traffic incidents related to the snow and ice:
- A car crashed into a tree in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, injuring the driver.
- A bus skidded off the road in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district, but no injuries were reported.
