The proposal called for the exemption of underage children of refugees from compulsory school attendance and the provision of childcare services through adult education centers instead. The AfD also proposed exempting Ukrainian students from compulsory school attendance and providing them with online education based on the Ukrainian curriculum.

Education Minister Clemens firmly rejected these proposals, highlighting the importance of in-person education for integration. The AfD’s motion was subsequently voted down in the state parliament.
