German Security Agencies Detect Russian-Linked Fake Videos Targeting Election
German security authorities have uncovered a Russian disinformation campaign involving fake videos alleging the manipulation of ballots in the upcoming federal election. The videos bear striking similarities to previous Russian interference efforts, particularly the Storm 1516 campaign.
Maximilian Kall, spokesperson for the German Interior Ministry, stated that two videos had emerged this week, suggesting that the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party would be treated unfairly in Sunday’s election.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) had previously warned that Russian intelligence and hacktivists would attempt to influence the election.
When asked about potential American interference, Kall responded, "We have no evidence of any coordinated effort at disinformation or online discourse manipulation from the United States. However, the security agencies have detected such operations from Russia, precisely as they anticipated."
