Rainbow Six Siege Y9S4 Patch Notes: A Comprehensive Breakdown of Fixes

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege continues its evolution with the arrival of Y9S4, bringing a host of bug fixes and improvements to the tactical shooter experience. Ubisoft Montreal is committed to refining the game, and this update focuses on addressing numerous issues reported by the community, enhancing gameplay stability, and ensuring a fairer competitive environment. This article provides a detailed overview of the fixes included in the Y9S4 patch, covering everything from operator-specific glitches to map exploits and visual inconsistencies.

Operator-Specific Fixes: Fine-Tuning the Roster

A significant portion of the Y9S4 patch addresses bugs related to specific operators, ensuring that their unique abilities and gadgets function as intended.

Blackbeard, a controversial operator known for his shield, receives considerable attention. One crucial fix prevents his H.U.L.L. Adaptable Shield from failing to block damage from throwable devices. Another fixes an issue where the shield wouldn’t lean correctly with the operator when holding a grenade from an opponent’s perspective. His reload animation for the MK17 has been corrected, and his feet no longer twist unnaturally when breaching from rappel with the shield equipped. Finally a visual glitch related to the shield’s presence in his Guerilla Victory Celebration has been fixed, alongside a visual issue when breaching walls with the shield.

Hibana, known for her X-Kairos breaching charges, sees a fix that prevents her pellets from sticking to the metal frame of hatches and clipping through them. A visual bug that caused her X-Kairos to spin in her hand while idle in the operator section has also been addressed. A final visual bug where the pellets are displayed as red instead of white when her elite skin is equipped has also been resolved.

Goyo, the defender with deployable Volcán Canisters, receives a fix that prevents his canisters from floating in the air after an Azami Kiba Barrier is destroyed. The issue of Goyo losing points when detonating his own Volcán Canister has also been resolved.

Sens, the attacker with the R.O.U. Projector System, has a bug fixed that prevented the VFX and SFX of the projector from disappearing when destroyed while being held by Wamai’s MAG-NET System.

Deimos has been updated, fixing a delay in his arm animation when aiming down sight of the .44 Vendetta. Additionally, the text prompt for activating Deimos’ DeathMARK is now correctly aligned with the center of the screen.

Additional Operator-Specific Fixes include:

  • Preventing Defender Bots from leaving the building when a player picks Montagne.
  • Addressing a Defender Operator animation pause after being affected by Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb.
  • Fixing the interaction with Valkyrie’s Black Eye when deployed on a printer that is destroyed on the Bank map.
  • Correcting an issue where Nomad’s Airjab Launcher would trigger a standard magazine reload animation.
  • Fixing an issue where Operators could not be scanned for a few seconds after Capitão’s Tactical Crossbow Smoke Dart dissipates.
  • Addressing an issue where Nøkk’s HEL Presence Reduction VFX would persist occasionally if she is eliminated while the effect is active.
  • Preventing Kapkan’s arm from clipping through barricades when deploying Entry Denial Device.
  • Correcting a visual bug where the full reload animation plays instead of the gadget reload for Nomad’s Airjab when equipped with a specific loadout.
  • Addressing missing VFX for Sens’s R.O.U. Projector System if the projector is destroyed while deploying.

Map Exploits and Environmental Issues: Ensuring Fair Play

The Y9S4 patch also tackles several map-related exploits and environmental issues that could be used to gain an unfair advantage. These fixes ensure that the game’s maps function as intended, providing a balanced playing field for all players.

Numerous fixes address clipping issues, where players could exploit unintended interactions with the environment to see through walls or access restricted areas. For instance, the patch prevents players from clipping through barricades by making a hole and rappelling into the wall. It also fixes an issue on the Clubhouse map where operators could navigate on top of the fence by vaulting on the white van. Another notable fix prevents attackers from shooting through drone vents due to clipping issues with fire extinguishers used as blockers on the Theme Park map.

Other map-specific fixes include:

  • Ensuring that barricades and objects behind them are destroyed by Impact Grenades thrown underneath them on the Kanal map.
  • Making luggage destructible in the Villa map to prevent line-of-sight exploits.
  • Preventing Ying’s Candelas and Fuze’s Cluster Charges from being deployed through metal sheets on the Oregon map.
  • Fixing an issue on the Emerald Plains map where Thermite’s Exothermic Charge couldn’t destroy walls in certain locations.
  • Preventing players from deploying drones to look through walls on the Consulate map.
  • Addressing a rock texture issue on the Clubhouse map.

Skopós and the V10-Pantheon Shell: A Focus on Correct Placement

A large number of fixes focus on Skopós’s idle V10-Pantheon Shell, a new addition to the game. These fixes address issues with its spawn location, shield presence, and alignment on various maps, ensuring that it appears correctly and doesn’t obstruct gameplay.

The patch includes fixes for the V10-Pantheon Shell spawning misaligned, without a shield, too close to walls, or clipping with the shield and objective on maps such as Yacht, Oregon, Consulate, and Emerald Plains. One specific issue prevents the V10-Pantheon Shell from blocking players from reinforcing walls or barricading doorways. Finally, the patch fixes an issue where players can clip through the shield of the V10-Pantheon Shell and take damage.

Gameplay and Gadget Fixes: Enhancing Consistency

Beyond operator and map-specific fixes, the Y9S4 patch addresses several general gameplay and gadget-related issues. These fixes improve the consistency and reliability of core game mechanics.

One fix prevents operators from changing stance when exiting Observation Tools, ensuring a smoother transition. Another addresses an issue where devices couldn’t be deployed on the debris of a destroyed Deployable Shield. A further fix addresses dust VFX issues.

Match Replay Improvements: Refining Analysis Tools

The Y9S4 patch also includes several fixes related to the Match Replay feature. These fixes address issues where destroyed gadgets and devices would reappear when viewed in Match Replay, providing a more accurate and reliable tool for analyzing gameplay.

Visual and Audio Fixes: Polishing the Experience

The patch also addresses several visual and audio issues, enhancing the overall polish of the game. These fixes include correcting weapon skin appearances, syncing animations with SFX, and addressing particle effects.

Other Notable Fixes:

  • Addressing an issue where PC players can tell who is a Console player in their lobby.

The Y9S4 patch for Rainbow Six Siege represents a significant effort by Ubisoft Montreal to address community concerns and refine the gameplay experience. By tackling a wide range of bugs and exploits, this update contributes to a more stable, balanced, and enjoyable tactical shooter for all players. As Rainbow Six Siege continues to evolve, these ongoing efforts to improve the game are crucial for maintaining its competitive integrity and long-term appeal.
