Five Injured in Three-Car Collision on German Highway
Wächtersbach, Germany – A serious collision involving three vehicles has left five people injured on a federal highway near Wächtersbach in the Main-Kinzig district of Germany.
According to police reports, a 19-year-old male driver was traveling on the B276 highway towards Wächtersbach after exiting the Autobahn. At an intersection, he allegedly ran a red light and collided with two oncoming vehicles that were attempting to make a left turn.
The 19-year-old driver and his 16-year-old female passenger sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The other vehicle involved in the accident, driven by a 52-year-old male, also contained three occupants: a 52-year-old female, a 23-year-old male, and a 58-year-old female driver. The 52-year-old male driver, 52-year-old female passenger, and 23-year-old passenger all suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The 58-year-old female driver of the third vehicle involved in the collision escaped unharmed.
Initial police investigations suggest that the 19-year-old driver may have disobeyed a red traffic signal, leading to the collision. All three vehicles involved in the accident sustained significant damage, estimated at over 30,000 euros. Two of the vehicles were reportedly declared total losses and required towing from the scene. The third vehicle was also towed away for further inspection and repairs.
Emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, were dispatched to the crash site to assist the victims and clear the roadway. Traffic in the area was severely disrupted for several hours while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the wreckage.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that may help determine the full circumstances of the collision.
