Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics Tickets and Volunteer Applications Reach Milestones

Ticket Sales Surpass Expectations

Organizers of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics have announced that they have sold close to 300,000 tickets for the Games, a promising start to their ticketing campaign.

The first phase of ticket sales commenced on February 6th and saw significant demand within the first six days. Approximately 25% of these tickets were purchased by Italian residents, while Germany and the United States emerged as the top international markets.

"This is a very encouraging start for us," said Andrea Varnier, CEO of Milano-Cortina 2026. "We have another lottery-based sales session coming up next week, and in early April, sales will open to everyone, including those who have not yet registered on the platform."

Strong Volunteer Response

The organizing committee has also received an overwhelming response to its call for volunteers. Over 96,000 applications have been submitted, far exceeding the estimated need of approximately 18,000 volunteers for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"It’s interesting to note that 10,000 of our applicants have participated in previous summer and winter Olympic Games," remarked Varnier. "We have a lot of people who volunteered in Turin in 2006, as well as many who were in Paris last summer."

The volunteer pool represents a diverse mix of nationalities, with Italians, Americans, and French nationals comprising the largest groups.

Ticket Allocation and Pricing Strategy

The 1.6 million available tickets will be distributed across all 15 sports and 86 events of the Games. Ticket prices will vary depending on the event, category, and location.

"We have consciously created a wide range of ticket prices to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience these Games," explained Varnier. "Our aim is to make it affordable for as many people as possible to attend."

Phased Ticketing Approach

The ticketing process for Milan-Cortina 2026 is being implemented in phases:

  • Phase 1 (February 6-13): Exclusive sales via a lottery system for those who registered on the ticketing platform.
  • Phase 2 (March 5): Second lottery-based sales session to give more people a chance to purchase tickets.
  • Phase 3 (Early April): General sale opens to the public, including non-registered individuals.

Olympic Legacy

The sale of tickets and recruitment of volunteers are crucial aspects of ensuring a successful Olympic Games. These initiatives not only generate revenue but also foster engagement with the host communities and create lasting legacies.

The Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics aim to leave a positive impact on Italy and beyond, promoting winter sports, tourism, and sustainable development. The strong demand for tickets and volunteer opportunities demonstrates the enthusiasm surrounding these Games and their potential to inspire and create memorable experiences for all involved.
