Deadly Knife Attack Trial: Defendant to Address Court Personally
In the ongoing trial related to the fatal knife attack in Mannheim’s Marktplatz, the defendant, Sulaiman A., is scheduled to make a personal statement on Thursday, September 9, at 9:00 AM before the Stuttgart Higher Regional Court.

The victims included five participants in a rally organized by the Islam-critical citizen movement Pax Europa (BPE) and a 29-year-old police officer named Rouven Laur, who succumbed to his severe injuries two days later.

The Federal Public Prosecutor believes that the defendant harbors sympathies for the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS). It is alleged that A. decided to carry out an attack on perceived infidels.

Prior to the attack, A. resided in Heppenheim, Hesse, with his wife and children, approximately 35 kilometers northeast of Mannheim.
