Mandy Moore’s Home Destroyed in LA Fires, Calls Out Amazon for Package Delivery

Mandy Moore’s Frustration After Amazon Package Left at Destroyed Home

On Tuesday, Mandy Moore, the star of "This Is Us," expressed her disappointment with Amazon on social media after a package intended for her in-laws’ home was allegedly delivered to the residence that had been ravaged by the recent LA fires.

"Do better, Amazon. Can we not have better discretion than to leave a package at a residence that no longer exists? This is my mother and father-in-law’s home. Smh," Moore wrote on her Instagram stories, alongside a picture of the purported package lying in front of the demolished house.

Amazon spokesperson Steve Kelly responded to the situation and apologized to Ms. Moore via Instagram. "We’ve reached out to Ms. Moore via Instagram to apologize for this and to request further details from her in-laws so we can investigate what transpired here more thoroughly," Kelly told Fox News Digital. "For many weeks, we’ve urged those delivering on our behalf in southern California to exercise discretion in areas affected by wildfires, especially when delivering to damaged homes – which clearly didn’t occur in this case."

Moore’s Harrowing Evacuation Experience

On the same day, Moore, who was forced to evacuate the previous month with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and their three children, recounted her terrifying experience in a separate post.

"We never received an evacuation order," she began her lengthy post on Instagram, sharing a picture of her in-laws’ destroyed home. "Sometimes, in the quieter moments of processing the last month, I wonder what would have occurred if I hadn’t had my phone next to me, playing my usual ‘piano for deep sleep’ mix while nursing Lou before bed, so I could respond to a call from my brother-in-law? It was 6:45 p.m. when he informed me that he, his wife, and our niece were evacuating, taking my in-laws (his parents) with them and escaping the area. He advised us to do the same."

"I calmly descended the stairs and informed my husband. Without hesitation, we gathered our children (in their pajamas), our dog, and raced to locate our three cats as the power went out," she continued. "I’ll never forget Taylor attempting to manually open our two small garage doors (they’d just completed construction around Thanksgiving and we’d only recently started using them) in the harrowing 60 mph winds, as the sky darkened to a deep red and ash began to fall all around us. We rushed through town amidst fallen trees on the freeway to the safety of our dear friend’s place, got the kids settled down, and then I drove to Target to get a litter box and some water, compulsively refreshing the watch duty app over and over."

Moore went on to say that while they discovered their own home was "still standing," its contents were "nearly a complete loss."

"Clothing, furniture, practically everything will have to be disposed of…possibly even the walls," she said. "We won’t be able to return for a long time as the house and the entire neighborhood are sorted, cleaned, and rebuilt. I say all of this because I’m struggling. Yes, we are incredibly fortunate to still technically have the structure of a home. However, do we still have a home? I believe my definition is changing. The physical space? No. It goes without saying that our precious family and our pets are all that matters and home is wherever we are together… but having a safe haven and a place to feel settled makes a significant difference."

While the "This Is Us" actress expressed gratitude for her family’s safety, she shared her heartfelt condolences for those who had lost everything.

"Real people throughout this city, regardless of their occupations or socioeconomic positions, lost the lives they had known and relied upon in an instant," she wrote. "My heart goes out to each and every one of them. This place, our home and the town itself, was our dream, and I hope that in time it will feel like that again… just a slightly different one."

Announcement of Family’s Home Lost in Fire

Moore shared the emotional moment when her family discovered that their home had "indeed burned down."

"We hugged each other, processed the unimaginable, and then returned to Target (I swear this isn’t sponsored) to buy some clothes because we had taken nothing with us, expecting to return the next morning," she wrote. "It wasn’t until several hours later that we learned that much of our property had burned down, but our home itself was miraculously still standing. And not only that, but as we’ve all come to understand, our entire community was gone. Our neighbors. Our neighborhood. Our relatives and friends."

"A month later, I find myself drawn back to Altadena, driving up and down the streets while Lou sleeps in the car, still unable to fully comprehend it all, its significance, or, on my less optimistic days, how any of us move forward," she concluded. "I’m reaching out and seeking assistance and guidance on how to cope with this trauma because my mind and heart are deeply shattered."

Support for Family’s GoFundMe Campaign

Last month, the actress utilized Instagram to share that her brother-in-law, Griff, and her sister-in-law, Kit, had lost their home in the Eaton Fire. She mentioned that Griff and Kit were soon expecting their first child and that "they require our assistance more than ever."

"Griff is a touring musician who also lost his entire arsenal of drums/percussion, which he relies on for a living. It’s all too much. Many have asked how they can help during this unimaginable and stressful time… Please consider donating and sharing to assist them in rebuilding," Moore wrote.

Later, Moore updated her caption to address concerns regarding whether she planned to provide financial assistance to her family.

"And people questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic," she wrote.

"Of course we are. Our buddy Matt created this go fund me and I’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything," she concluded.
