Hurts and Barkley Reflect on Eagles’ Super Bowl Triumph, Talk ‘Brotherly Shove’

Philadelphia Eagles’ Triumphant Victory Lap: Hurts and Barkley on ‘The Tonight Show’

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Philadelphia Eagles are savoring their hard-fought victory in Super Bowl LIX, where they emerged victorious over the Kansas City Chiefs. Two of the team’s shining stars, quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley, recently appeared on ‘The Tonight Show’ to share their perspectives on the momentous win.

Jalen Hurts: Processing the Triumph

Hurts reflected on the surreal moment of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy, acknowledging that the magnitude of the victory was still sinking in.

"I’ve been trying to process it," Hurts said. "When you go into these big games, you don’t know exactly how you’re going to feel… I thought about all the hard work and effort that had gone into it."

The Super Bowl LIX MVP emphasized the importance of recognizing the collective effort that led to the team’s success.

Saquon Barkley: The Eagles’ Secret Weapon

Barkley, who joined the Eagles in March 2023, played a pivotal role in the team’s victory, despite being somewhat contained during the game. He finished the Super Bowl with 57 rushing yards, but his contributions throughout the regular season were undeniably significant.

"I think I have the easiest job, to be honest," Barkley said with a smile, referring to his role in the Eagles’ infamous ‘tush push’ play. "I’m the one who pushes the tush."

The Notorious ‘Tush Push’ Play

The ‘tush push’ or ‘brotherly shove’ has become synonymous with the Eagles’ dominance in short-yardage situations. Hurts, however, revealed that neither of these names is accurate, leaving the true moniker of the play a mystery.

"It’s not called a ‘tush push,’" Hurts clarified. "Everybody came up with their own name for it, but that’s not it."

Regardless of its official designation, the play has proven to be an effective tool for the Eagles, helping them overcome obstacles and secure crucial first downs.

Barkley’s Past and Present

Barkley, once a standout running back for the New York Giants, expressed his gratitude for being a part of the Eagles’ Super Bowl triumph.

"I’m just grateful to be here," Barkley said. "I’m blessed to be a part of this team… It was a great feeling to win a Super Bowl with these guys."

Many former teammates from Barkley’s days with the Giants were thrilled with his success, he revealed.

Hurts’ Historic Performance

Hurts’ performance in Super Bowl LIX was nothing short of remarkable. He completed 221 passing yards and scored two touchdowns, showcasing his exceptional skills and leadership.

Barkley’s Stellar Season

Barkley’s contributions to the Eagles’ success extended far beyond the Super Bowl. During the regular season, he rushed for a career-high 2,005 yards, demonstrating his unwavering determination and athletic prowess.

In the Eagles’ four playoff games, Barkley added 499 rushing yards to his tally, proving to be an indispensable force on the field.

Eagles’ Continued Dominance

The Philadelphia Eagles have established themselves as a formidable force in the NFL, and their victory in Super Bowl LIX is a testament to their unwavering determination and collective talent. As they embark on the upcoming season, they will undoubtedly be a team to watch, eager to defend their title and etch their names even further into the annals of football history.
