Hessen Film Fund Supports Diverse Film and Series Projects with €2.8 Million

"Fatherland" Receives €200,000

Among the recipients is the drama "Fatherland," produced by Edward Berger, who recently won four Oscars for his film "All Quiet on the Western Front." "Fatherland" will receive €200,000 in funding.

"Das Erbe" Awarded €300,000

Kasseler Living Pictures Production’s feature film "Das Erbe" (The Legacy) has been granted €300,000. This film delves into the life of a photographer whose journey is shaped by the Lukashenko regime in Belarus.

Young Jury Allocates €600,000 to Seven Projects

The Young Jury, a group of emerging filmmakers, awarded a total of €600,000 to seven projects. One notable recipient is "Save Our Souls," which addresses the pressing issue of climate change and received €360,000 in funding.

Hessen Film & Medien GmbH: A Collaboration for Cinematic Excellence

Hessen Film & Medien GmbH, the entity responsible for these grants, is jointly owned by the state of Hesse (90%) and Hessischer Rundfunk (10%). This collaboration emphasizes the importance of both public funding and industry support in fostering cinematic excellence.

Minister Gremmels Highlights Diversity and Artistic Courage

Timon Gremmels, Hesse’s Minister of Art and Culture, emphasized the significance of these film projects in promoting diversity, facilitating social dialogue, and encouraging artistic innovation.

  • "Die Arktis ruft" (The Call of the Arctic): A documentary showcasing the beauty and fragility of the Arctic, directed by Thomas Riedelsheimer.
  • "Das Haus der Erinnerungen" (The House of Memories): A poignant exploration of memory and loss, directed by Michael Gutmann.
  • "Sörensen hat Angst" (Sorensen is Afraid): A dark comedy about a man’s struggle with fear and conformity, directed by Peter Luisi.
