House Fire on Föhr Island Causes Extensive Damage
Midlum, Föhr Island – A house fire in the early hours of Sunday morning has caused significant damage to a single-family home in Midlum on the North Sea island of Föhr. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze, according to police.
Authorities reported that all occupants were able to evacuate the house on their own before the fire spread. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire department was alerted to the incident at approximately 1:30 AM and quickly dispatched crews to the scene. Upon arrival, firefighters found the house engulfed in flames.
"We faced a challenging situation upon arrival, with the fire having already taken hold," said a spokesperson for the fire department. "Our primary focus was to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring properties."
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours, using multiple water jets to contain the flames. The fire was eventually extinguished, but not before causing extensive damage to the house.
Investigators are now working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. The house has been declared uninhabitable, and the occupants are currently being assisted by local authorities.
The fire has caused an estimated €250,000 in property damage. While the occupants escaped unharmed, the loss of their home and belongings has left them devastated.
"We are grateful that no one was injured in this incident," said the mayor of Föhr, Nikolas Häckel. "Our thoughts are with the affected family, and we will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time."
The fire has shaken the community of Midlum, a small village on the western coast of Föhr. Many residents have come together to offer their support and condolences to the affected family.
"This is a tragic event for our community," said a local resident. "We are a close-knit group, and we will stand by our neighbors in their time of need."
