Former UConn Basketball Player Eric Cobb Accused of Murdering Mother

Cobb’s Attempt to Flee Thwarted
As the investigation unfolded, officers apprehended Eric Cobb while he attempted to flee the residence. The CT Post reported that neighbors had heard multiple gunshots and a woman’s screams the previous night. The following day, a concerned friend visited the home to check on Winford after failing to establish contact. Upon arrival, she noticed large bloodstains outside and a body wrapped in a blanket.
Hometown Tragedy for Cobb
Cobb’s arrest has sent shockwaves through his community. A former standout basketball player at UConn, he represented the Huskies from 2017-2019. During his junior year, he started five games in 15 appearances, averaging 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds. The following year, he appeared in 32 games, contributing 3.7 points and 3.8 rebounds. Prior to UConn, Cobb played one season at South Carolina, where he appeared in 24 games and averaged 1.1 points and 1.9 rebounds.
