International Telephone Scam Network Dismantled by German Police

During the raids, law enforcement confiscated two firearms, data storage devices, IT equipment, and other substantial evidence. Additionally, numerous fraudulent phone numbers and dozens of servers used for the scams were disabled.

The detained suspect allegedly facilitated the acquisition of bulk contracts with German telephone providers, enabling the establishment of call centers used to execute the telephone fraud. A second female accomplice is believed to have assisted in these operations.

The scammers made countless phone calls to individuals in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and other EU nations, perpetrating a total financial loss estimated in the tens of millions of euros. Elderly individuals were particularly targeted, facing relentless calls and intimidating threats.

The operation culminated extensive investigations directed by the Cybercrime Center Baden-Württemberg and supported by cybercrime specialists from the Leipzig Public Prosecutor’s Office. Over a year was spent analyzing data and planning the coordinated takedown.
