Cleveland Clinic: Exposed for Woke Agenda, Prioritizing Politics Over Patients

Cleveland Clinic Under Scrutiny for Prioritizing ‘Woke’ Agenda over Patient Care

Campaign Launched by Consumers’ Research

Consumers’ Research, a non-profit organization dedicated to consumer information, has launched a campaign targeting the Cleveland Clinic. The campaign, dubbed "Cleveland Clinic Exposed," alleges that the organization has prioritized "woke" politics over the well-being of its patients.

‘Exposed’ Ad Highlights Woke Practices

The campaign includes a 30-second ad titled "Exposed," which will run in Ohio during the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors game on Wednesday. The ad questions whether Cleveland Clinic is "the wokest hospital in America" and highlights its alleged practices, including:

  • Prioritizing care based on skin color
  • Performing child sex changes
  • Pushing transgender propaganda on vulnerable kids
  • Injecting DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) into everything
  • Spending millions on climate activism

Alleged Prioritization of Political Agenda

The ad also references a letter from Cleveland Clinic’s CEO, Tom Mihaljevic, suggesting that providing healthcare services is not the sole focus of the organization. Mihaljevic wrote that Cleveland Clinic has an obligation to "uplift the many communities we call home" and "embrace diversity, champion human rights, and lead with humility and inclusiveness."

Past Accusations of ‘Woke’ Agenda

The Cleveland Clinic has faced accusations of promoting a "woke" agenda in the past. These include a complaint filed by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty alleging "race-based discrimination and segregation of patients."

Diversity and Inclusion as a Core Value

The Cleveland Clinic’s website features several posts promoting climate initiatives and diversity initiatives. In 2022, the clinic hired Jacqui Robertson as its chief of diversity and inclusion. Robertson has stated that diversity and inclusion should be "embedded in everything that we do."

Response from Cleveland Clinic

A spokesperson for the Cleveland Clinic has pushed back against the campaign, stating that the advertisement contains "false statements" and that the clinic does not discriminate based on race, gender, or any other category.

Consumers’ Research Executive Director’s Statement

Will Hild, executive director of Consumers’ Research, expressed concern about the Cleveland Clinic’s alleged practices. He stated, "The clinic’s leadership alarmingly proclaims that DEI ‘has to be embedded in everything that we do.’ Such a sentiment plagues the entire hospital system and should frighten every patient in need of its services."

Call for a Return to Patient-Centered Care

Consumers’ Research is calling on the Cleveland Clinic to reverse course, shun woke radicalism, and make affordable quality care its only focus. Hild emphasized, "It is wrong when any company prioritizes woke objectives over its consumers, but it is especially disturbing when the perpetrator is a medical facility and consumers are patients."
