Amazon Delivery Driver Allegedly Poops and Urinates on Los Angeles Residents’ Properties on Mother’s Day

Two separate incidents involving an Amazon delivery driver allegedly defecating and urinating on the properties of Los Angeles homes on Mother’s Day have sparked outrage and concern. The incidents, captured on surveillance video and reported to KTLA-TV, have prompted a swift response from Amazon, leading to the driver’s removal from their delivery role.

The first incident occurred in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. A resident, Tamara Bedoy, discovered a disturbing scene on her front porch after her husband went downstairs to retrieve an Amazon package. In addition to the expected delivery, they found what appeared to be human feces and urine.

"My husband went downstairs and was not only greeted by one package, but a second, inappropriate disgusting package which was essentially like human feces and looked to be urination," Bedoy told KTLA. "You can see the mess that she left."

Surveillance footage from Bedoy’s home shows an individual wearing a blue Amazon vest and purple shorts walking up to the front porch on Sunday morning, May 11. The video then depicts the driver descending the stairs, pulling up their shorts, according to the report. Feces were found on the porch, accompanied by a wet substance, further fueling the suspicion that the driver had defecated and urinated on the property.

A second, separate incident occurred that same day, May 11, at 6:06 a.m. Surveillance video submitted to KTLA appears to show the same individual urinating by a wood gate outside another resident’s home. The proximity in time and the apparent match in appearance suggest that the same Amazon delivery driver was responsible for both incidents.

The brazen nature of the alleged acts, coupled with the fact that they occurred on Mother’s Day, has intensified the public’s reaction. The incidents have raised questions about the screening and oversight of delivery drivers, particularly those employed by third-party delivery service partners.

Amazon responded to the allegations with a statement to USA TODAY on May 13, expressing their deep concern and apologizing to the affected customers. "We’re deeply disturbed by the unacceptable behavior of this delivery driver and apologize to the customers involved," the company stated. "We immediately identified the driver and they are no longer delivering."

However, Amazon did not disclose the identity of the driver. This lack of transparency has led to speculation and calls for greater accountability in the hiring and monitoring of delivery personnel.

The incidents highlight a broader issue within the gig economy, where many delivery drivers operate as independent contractors or are employed by third-party companies. This arrangement can sometimes lead to less stringent background checks and oversight compared to directly employed Amazon staff.

While Amazon has taken swift action by removing the driver from their delivery role, the incidents have left a lasting impact on the affected residents and raised concerns about the safety and security of residential properties.

The residents of Woodland Hills are understandably shaken by the experience. The thought of someone deliberately desecrating their property with human waste is deeply disturbing and violates their sense of security. The incidents have also sparked a broader conversation about the level of respect and professionalism expected from delivery drivers who are entrusted with accessing private properties.

The use of surveillance video in both incidents underscores the increasing prevalence of home security systems and their role in capturing evidence of wrongdoing. In this case, the video footage played a crucial role in identifying the alleged perpetrator and prompting Amazon to take action.

The incidents also raise questions about the potential stressors and working conditions faced by delivery drivers. The demanding nature of the job, coupled with tight delivery schedules and pressure to meet quotas, may contribute to unethical or inappropriate behavior. However, this does not excuse the alleged actions, and the focus remains on ensuring accountability and preventing similar incidents from happening in the future.

Amazon’s response to the incidents has been met with mixed reactions. While some appreciate the company’s swift action in removing the driver, others believe that more needs to be done to address the underlying issues and prevent future occurrences. Calls for improved background checks, enhanced training, and better oversight of delivery personnel are growing louder.

The incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of vetting and monitoring individuals who are given access to private properties. While the vast majority of delivery drivers are responsible and trustworthy, these isolated incidents underscore the need for vigilance and proactive measures to protect residents from potential harm.

As the investigation into the incidents continues, it is essential to ensure that the affected residents receive the support and resources they need to recover from this unsettling experience. It is also crucial to address the broader issues surrounding the gig economy and the need for greater accountability and oversight in the delivery industry.

The incidents in Los Angeles have undoubtedly tarnished Amazon’s reputation and raised questions about the company’s commitment to customer safety and security. Moving forward, Amazon must demonstrate a clear and unwavering commitment to addressing the underlying issues and implementing measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. This includes strengthening background checks, enhancing training programs, and improving oversight of delivery personnel, regardless of whether they are directly employed by Amazon or work for third-party delivery service partners. Only through such comprehensive efforts can Amazon restore public trust and ensure that its delivery services are safe, reliable, and respectful of the communities it serves.
