Berlin, Germany – The German far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has fallen heir to a multi-million euro inheritance, significantly bolstering its financial resources ahead of the 2023 federal election.

According to the news magazine "Der Spiegel," the AfD received a bequest of 5,957,969.66 euros from a former party donor based in Berlin-Dahlem. The inheritance was disclosed in the AfD’s financial report for 2023.
In addition, the party became the owner of two apartment buildings located in Berlin-Dahlem and Berlin-Schöneberg, valued at 2 million euros and 2.15 million euros, respectively. It remains unclear whether these properties were also acquired through the inheritance.

The inheritance and property acquisition have contributed to a 14.8 million euro increase in the AfD’s net assets, which have grown from 23.5 million euros in 2022 to approximately 38.3 million euros in 2023.

The AfD has also received substantial donations from wealthy individuals during the current election campaign. Controversial multimillionaire Winfried Stöcker has contributed 1.5 million euros. A former supervisory board member of the Thuringian mail-order company Böttcher AG donated 999,990 euros.

Furthermore, the party reported receiving a 2.35 million euro in-kind donation from a former Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) politician, who funded an extensive poster campaign.
