Tragic Death of Super Bowl Reporter: Suspect Arrested, Alleged Drugging Emerges
Introduction
The death of Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old Telemundo reporter, during Super Bowl LIX coverage has sparked a complex investigation. New security camera footage and details have emerged, pointing to a potential drug-related incident and the arrest of a suspect with a history of criminal activity.
Suspect Arrested in Hotel Room Incident
Danette Colbert, 45, has been arrested in connection with Manzano’s death. She was allegedly seen entering Manzano’s room at the Comfort Suites hotel in Kenner, Louisiana, just hours before his body was discovered. Colbert reportedly left the hotel alone later that night.
Security Footage and Credit Card Trail
Kenner police analyzed security footage and discovered that Manzano arrived at his hotel room around 4:35 a.m. on February 5th. Colbert was seen entering and leaving the room a short time later. She left the room again around 6 a.m. and did not return.
Police also discovered that one of Manzano’s credit cards was missing from his hotel room. This credit card was later found in Colbert’s possession, along with a stolen firearm and narcotics.
Potential Drug Involvement and Other Suspicious Deaths
Kenner police have suggested that Manzano may have been drugged, based on statements from the victim’s family and colleagues. Other individuals have come forward with similar stories of "suspicious deaths under similar circumstances," prompting authorities to investigate further.
Suspect’s Criminal History and "Confidence Game"
According to Kenner police, Colbert is a "career criminal" with a history of crimes against individuals. She allegedly uses a "confidence game" to gain access to victims’ personal information and credit cards.
Chief Keith Conley of the Kenner Police Department stated that Colbert has three separate criminal cases involving unauthorized access to credit cards. Her rap sheet also includes other offenses such as simple robbery and theft.
Victim Remembered as Rising Star
Telemundo 39 issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over Manzano’s passing. They described him as "a true professional and a rising star" who exemplified excellence in his work.
Manzano’s coverage of Super Bowl LIX was part of a larger assignment to report on the Kansas City Chiefs. His wife Ashleigh Boyd tragically died in a car crash last year.
Ongoing Investigation and Pending Charges
Colbert is currently facing multiple charges, including being a fugitive, traffic violations, purse snatching, aggravated device fraud, and bank fraud. More charges may be filed once the medical examiner completes Manzano’s autopsy.
The investigation into Manzano’s death is ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover all aspects of the incident. The potential drug involvement and the suspect’s criminal history have raised concerns about the safety of individuals in the area.
