SV Wehen Wiesbaden Reshuffles Defense for Rot-Weiss Essen Clash

Trainer Nils Döring Forced to Restructure Defense for Home Match Against Rot-Weiss Essen

The upcoming home match for SV Wehen Wiesbaden against Rot-Weiss Essen poses a challenge for trainer Nils Döring, who must revamp his defense due to the suspension of regular left-back Felix Luckeneder.

Justin Janitzek to Fill the Void

Döring has identified Justin Janitzek as Luckeneder’s replacement for the crucial encounter. Janitzek, who has impressed in recent training sessions and exhibited strong performances in the team’s winter preparation matches, has earned the coach’s full confidence.

"He has been training exceptionally well in the past weeks and has consistently showcased his abilities in the test matches. I have absolute trust in him," asserted Döring ahead of the third-division clash scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM (CET).

A Formidable Opponent

Döring anticipates a grueling and intense match against Rot-Weiss Essen, a team that has accumulated seven points from their last three games. He highlighted Essen’s stability, proficiency in counterattacking, and prowess in set pieces.

"We have to contend with their strengths and seize our own opportunities. Our recent performance, despite the narrow defeat in Cottbus, fills me with optimism," said Döring.

Defensive Restructuring

Döring’s defensive reshuffle involves Janitzek replacing Luckeneder on the left flank. The rest of the backline, consisting of Sascha Mockenhaupt as center-back, Moritz Kuhn as right-back, and Jonas Breier as goalkeeper, remains unchanged.

Squad Analysis

Döring expressed satisfaction with the overall squad’s fitness and readiness for the match. He acknowledged the team’s strong bench options, which provide him with flexibility in making substitutions if necessary.

The squad includes experienced players such as captain Sebastian Mrowca, midfielders Benedict Hollerbach and Johannes Wurtz, and forwards Gustaf Nilsson and Manuel Schäffler.

Tactical Considerations

Döring plans to employ a balanced approach, prioritizing both attacking and defensive strategies. He intends to press high up the pitch to disrupt Essen’s buildup and create scoring chances.

"We need to find the right balance between offense and defense. We want to be aggressive but also maintain our defensive solidity," said Döring.

Fan Support and Expectations

Döring acknowledged the importance of the fans’ support, particularly in crucial home matches like the one against Essen. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a strong performance and secure a positive result.

The match at the Brita-Arena is expected to draw a significant crowd of home fans eager to witness their team’s pursuit of victory. Döring expressed his gratitude for their unwavering support and pledged to provide them with an entertaining and competitive match.

"Our fans are our twelfth man on the pitch. Their energy and enthusiasm will give us the extra boost we need. We will leave everything on the field to make them proud," concluded Döring.
