TSG Hoffenheim Suffer Blow as Adam Hlozek Ruled Out for Weeks with Foot Injury
Hoffenheim, Germany – Bundesliga strugglers TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have been dealt a major blow in their fight against relegation, with star striker Adam Hlozek ruled out for several weeks due to a right foot injury.
The 22-year-old sustained the injury during Hoffenheim’s 4-0 defeat to 1. FC Union Berlin last Saturday. The club confirmed the extent of the injury on Monday, leaving them without one of their key attackers at a crucial stage of the season.
The Czech international played the full 90 minutes against Union, but it appears that he aggravated the injury during the match. Hoffenheim did not provide a specific timeline for Hlozek’s return, but it is expected that he will be sidelined for at least several weeks.
Hlozek’s absence is a significant blow to Hoffenheim’s hopes of staying in the Bundesliga. The forward has been one of the team’s most consistent performers this season, scoring seven goals in 20 league appearances.
Without Hlozek, Hoffenheim will need to find other sources of goals. Ihlas Bebou and Andrej Kramaric are the other two main attacking options for coach André Breitenreiter, but they have struggled for form this season.
Hoffenheim currently sit 16th in the Bundesliga table, just one point above the relegation play-off place. They have lost their last three league games and will need to improve their results quickly to avoid dropping into the second division.
The injury to Hlozek is the latest in a series of setbacks for Hoffenheim. The club has also been hit by injuries to Kevin Vogt, Pavel Kaderabek, and Jacob Bruun Larsen this season.
Hoffenheim’s next game is a crucial home match against fellow relegation battlers VfL Bochum on Saturday. They will need to find a way to cope without Hlozek if they want to secure a much-needed victory.
