Laut gegen Nazis: Hamburg’s Action Week for Diversity

"Loud Against Nazis" Initiates Diversity Awareness Week for Hamburg Youth

Hamburg, Germany – The Hamburg-based organization "Laut gegen Nazis" (Loud Against Nazis) is launching an "Action Week for Diversity" aimed at educating youth about the vital importance of democracy and the perils of right-wing extremism.

Under the patronage of Smudo, the rapper from the renowned hip-hop group Die Fantastischen Vier, the program will feature a series of lectures and workshops from March 4-8. School classes from the city have been invited to attend the events, which will be held at a skateboarding hall near the Berliner Tor.

"We need to motivate people to continue protecting our democracy," said Jörn Menge, chairman of "Laut gegen Nazis." The events will tackle pressing issues such as online racism, the inclusion of wheelchair users, and sexual diversity.

According to Menge, at least 25 school classes have already registered for the program, with additional spaces still available. Smudo, who generously donated his winnings from the RTL quiz show "Wer wird Millionär?" to support the organization’s efforts, will also participate in the events.

"Our aim is to demonstrate that democracy is an essential mechanism for preserving peace and preventing us from resorting to violence against one another," said Smudo.

The initiative has garnered support from prominent entities such as the Hamburg SV (HSV) football club, individuals who have left the right-wing extremist scene, and a Jewish cultural organization. They will offer additional activities for young people alongside the lectures.

Fostering a Culture of Tolerance and Inclusivity

The "Action Week for Diversity" is part of a broader campaign by "Laut gegen Nazis" to promote tolerance and inclusivity in Hamburg. The organization believes that education is key to combating right-wing extremism and preventing the spread of hate and division.

"We live in a society where diversity is a fact of life," said Menge. "It’s crucial that we embrace and celebrate our differences instead of allowing them to divide us."

Call to Action for Youth

The organization urges young people to take an active role in defending democratic values and speaking out against all forms of discrimination. The "Action Week for Diversity" provides them with a platform to learn, engage in dialogue, and contribute to a better, more inclusive society.
