Rep. Jasmine Crockett Condemns Trump, Apologizes to World for His Actions Towards Zelenskyy
Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat representing Texas, has launched a scathing critique of former President Donald Trump, labeling him an "enemy" of the United States and apologizing to the world for his behavior during a recent meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The controversy stems from a meeting at the White House where, according to reports, a shouting match erupted between Zelenskyy and Trump, along with Vice President JD Vance.
Crockett’s response to the meeting was swift and direct. She took to social media platform X to express her outrage, denouncing Trump as a "draft dodging dumb dupe." Her post, punctuated with strong language, conveyed her dismay at Trump’s alleged treatment of an ally currently embroiled in a war for his nation’s survival. She wrote, "It’s been a long day… but in short, bullies ain’t s[—]! I don’t care what title you hold! This isn’t some long gone reality tv show or failed casino….this is war! How dare a draft dodging dumb dupe humiliate an ally and berate an actual brave man who has actually been on a battlefield for his people?!"
Crockett’s apology to the world reflected her deep concern about the current state of American leadership on the global stage. "Let me say this to the WORLD, I am sorry that the bright light America used to be is dimming," she stated.
In a subsequent interview with MSNBC host Alex Witt, Crockett doubled down on her criticism of Trump, asserting that he is "an enemy to the United States" who is putting the country at risk. She elaborated, "Unfortunately, we have someone that is occupying the White House, and as far as I’m concerned, he is an enemy to the United States." She cited numerous controversies surrounding Trump as justification for her assessment.
Crockett emphasized the gravity of the situation, highlighting Trump’s alleged disregard for his oath of office. "He swore an oath just like the rest of us. But right now, when you are literally putting us at risk, all because of what? Because you want to convince your followers that you should be a dictator, too? That you should never leave the White House because you don’t believe that elections should take place?" she questioned.
The congresswoman expressed deep concern over what she perceives as emerging hazards stemming from Trump’s actions and policies. "I don’t really understand what is going on, and I don’t know what it’s going to take to get people to wake up," she said. Crockett specifically pointed to the weakening of national security measures, such as the removal of individuals overseeing the nuclear stockpile and the outsourcing of critical functions to private entities like Elon Musk’s companies. She also raised concerns about the elimination of inspector generals, leading to a "lack of checks-and-balances all around us."
During the interview, Crockett also addressed the criticism leveled at Zelenskyy for his attire at the White House. Trump reportedly greeted Zelenskyy with the comment, "You’re all dressed up today," seemingly mocking his trademark military fatigues. Crockett condemned Trump for focusing on Zelenskyy’s clothing, suggesting that it stemmed from Trump’s own lack of military service. "Maybe this is because Trump never wanted to go serve his country. And right now, the only service that he’s giving to us is driving our country apart," she stated.
Crockett defended Zelenskyy’s choice of attire, arguing that it was inappropriate to prioritize fashion in a time of war. "But I’m sorry, when you’re at war, you’re not worried about your outfit. That is what we call a privilege, number one," she said. She further argued that if Zelenskyy had worn expensive suits, he would have been accused of misusing aid money. "Listen, this is a no-win situation when you’re walking in with someone who has decided that he is going to align himself with a dictating thug," Crockett concluded.
The congresswoman’s strong condemnation of Trump and her apology to the world highlight the deep divisions and concerns within the United States regarding the direction of its foreign policy and the integrity of its leadership. Her remarks underscore the growing unease among some political figures about the potential consequences of Trump’s actions on the nation’s security and its standing in the international community. The incident involving Zelenskyy appears to have served as a catalyst for Crockett’s forceful expression of these concerns, prompting her to take a public stand against what she perceives as a dangerous trajectory for the country.
