In 1979, Lawlor landed his most famous role as Steven Bradley, the well-intentioned but often befuddled headmaster of the all-girls school in "The Facts of Life." The show, a spinoff of "Diff’rent Strokes," followed the lives of a group of young women at Eastland School and featured a cast that included Charlotte Rae, Kim Fields, Mindy Cohn, and Lisa Whelchel.

For the first season, Lawlor served as the headmaster, providing guidance and support to the students and staff. However, in the second season, showrunners decided to replace Bradley with Charles Parker, played by "Star Trek" star Roger Perry.

Return to Guest Starring

After leaving "The Facts of Life," Lawlor continued to make guest appearances on popular television shows such as "L.A. Law" and "Knots Landing." He also ventured into directing, working on films such as "Driftwood" (1997) and "A Prayer for the Dying" (1987).
