Motorists are urged to exercise caution, particularly at dusk, when amphibians are most likely to be crossing roads. Areas marked with amphibian warning signs should be navigated at walking pace.
Traffic Restrictions
To further protect migrating amphibians, traffic restrictions have been implemented in certain regions of Lower Saxony. In the Gifhorn district, some road sections will be temporarily closed at night when amphibian migrations are observed. In the Goslar district, the Wolfshagener Straße has been completely closed since the 1st of March and will remain so until the end of April. These closures are part of long-standing measures employed during amphibian migration periods.
Hameln-Pyrmont County
In Hameln-Pyrmont, several road sections have already been closed at night, and further closures are planned for the beginning of March. Additionally, speed limits have been imposed on specific road sections.
