Increased Security Measures Announced for 2025 Paris Agricultural Show
The 61st edition of the Paris Agricultural Show will open its doors this Saturday amidst heightened security concerns. The organizers of the event, the CENECA (National Center for Agricultural Exhibitions and Competitions), have decided to bolster security by increasing their private security staff and requesting a mobile police station on-site.
Enhanced Security Personnel
The CENECA has been gradually increasing the number of private security agents at the show for the past five years. This year, the group plans to further expand its security team to mitigate the risks associated with the show’s festive atmosphere and excessive alcohol consumption among some visitors.
Mobile Police Station
For several years, the CENECA has requested the establishment of a mobile police station at the show. This request has now been granted by the Paris Police Prefecture. The presence of the police station will facilitate the filing of complaints and help to deter any potential disturbances.
Focus on Visitor Safety
Arnaud Lemoine, director of the CENECA, emphasizes the importance of ensuring the safety of visitors, exhibitors, and politicians alike. Last year, approximately 80 politicians attended the show, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures.
"The comfort of each visitor is not an idea but an imperative," Lemoine told Le Figaro.
Random Searches and Anti-Hawking Efforts
In addition to the increased security personnel and mobile police station, the organizers will implement random searches on days with high visitor numbers or in the event of specific threats. The CENECA will also continue its efforts to limit the presence of street vendors around the show, who can sometimes pose a danger to visitors.
Supporting the Agricultural Sector
Despite the recent turmoil in the agricultural industry, Lemoine insists that the show remains a platform for dialogue and support.
"The show can be a place for demands, but not for demonstrations. The show supports the agricultural world, in good times and bad," he said.
Conclusion
The 2025 Paris Agricultural Show will host over 600,000 visitors and showcase the latest advancements in agriculture. With the enhanced security measures in place, the organizers aim to create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone in attendance.
