Silly’s Electroacoustic Tour Interrupted Due to Illness

The legendary German rock band Silly has been forced to postpone the remaining six shows of their ongoing "Elektroakustik-Tour" due to an outbreak of illness within the band.

"Dear fans, unfortunately, the current wave of colds has now caught up with
us, so we regret to announce that we have to postpone the upcoming six shows to other dates," the band said.

The postponements affect performances at the Dresden Kulturpalast, Potsdam, Bautzen, Zwickau, Hof, and a second date in Dresden.

The band has confirmed that all tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates, with additional information to be provided soon.

The tour had been met with much critical acclaim and had been selling out venues. The current lineup features keyboardist Ritchie Barton, guitarist Uwe Hassbecker, bassist Hans-Jürgen "Jäcki" Reznicek, singer Julia Neigel, and former City frontman Toni Krahl.

The band has bolstered its lineup with drummer Ronny Dehn and Hassbecker’s son, Daniel, who has added new textures to the Silly sound with his accordion and cello playing.

"Unlike a typical rock show, we’re using different instruments," Reznicek said ahead of the tour’s launch. "The songs have been rearranged in some cases. With some songs, people don’t even recognize what it is at first. Only when the vocals start, it becomes clear."

Silly’s Electroacoustic Transformation

The "Elektroakustik-Tour" marked a departure from Silly’s traditional rock sound, incorporating elements of folk, jazz, and classical music. The band rearranged well-known hits such as "Bataillon d’Amour" and "Deine Stärken" into intimate acoustic versions, showcasing the versatility and maturity of their songwriting.

The album "Elektroakustik Live," released in 2022, captured the essence of the tour and received critical acclaim for its innovative arrangements and stunning performances. The band’s ability to adapt to different musical styles without sacrificing their raw energy and emotional depth has been a testament to their longevity and enduring appeal.

Rescheduling and Future Plans

The band has expressed their disappointment at having to postpone the remaining shows but has assured fans that they will make up for the missed performances as soon as possible. Rescheduled dates and additional information are expected to be announced in the coming days.

In the meantime, Silly fans can relive the magic of the "Elektroakustik-Tour" through the live album or catch up on the band’s extensive back catalog, which includes hits such as "SOS," "Wo bist du?" and "Ich will nicht länger schweigen."

Silly has been a mainstay of the German music scene for over four decades and continues to inspire and captivate audiences with their timeless melodies and thought-provoking lyrics. The postponement of the remaining shows is a setback, but it is also an opportunity for the band to rest, recover, and return with renewed vigor for the rescheduled performances.
