Reopening of Sengelmannstraße Station on Hamburg U1 Line
Passengers to Resume Boarding and Disembarking at Sengelmannstraße Station from Monday
After months of closure, construction work on a new platform at Sengelmannstraße station on the U1 line in Hamburg has been completed, and the station will reopen to passenger service on Monday.
Since the start of construction, trains have been passing through the station without stopping. With the completion of the new platform, U1 trains will once again make regular stops at Sengelmannstraße.
Future Integration with U5 Line
The new platform has been designed to facilitate a future interchange with the under-construction U5 line, which is scheduled to open in 2029. A second platform has been constructed alongside the new platform, where U1 trains will temporarily stop.
Construction work on the existing platform will continue while the station is operational.
Delayed Reopening
The reopening of Sengelmannstraße station has been delayed by nearly a month. The original target date of January 19 could not be met due to unforeseen circumstances and necessary additional work.
Upcoming Closures
While passengers can now enjoy the restored service at Sengelmannstraße, additional closures are expected on the U1 line in the coming months. Beginning in June, construction work will commence in the vicinity of Volksdorf station at the eastern end of the line, including bridge repairs.
