Wolfsburg, Germany – In a captivating clash of northern rivals in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), the Grizzlys Wolfsburg staged a remarkable comeback to defeat the Fischtown Pinguins of Bremerhaven in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Trailing 2-5 deep into the third period, the Grizzlys refused to capitulate, unleashing a furious rally that culminated in a dramatic 6-5 victory. The decisive moment came in the penalty shootout, where Wolfsburg’s Luis Schinko proved to be the lone marksman, securing the hard-fought triumph.

This hard-earned win marked the Grizzlys’ second success over Bremerhaven in the current DEL season, ending a 10-game winless streak against their bitter rivals.

Grizzlys Unleash Scoring Barrage in Third Period

The Grizzlys entered the third period facing an uphill battle, down 2-5. However, they emerged from the break with renewed determination, launching an unrelenting offensive assault.

First, Mathis Olimb found the back of the net with a precise shot to ignite the comeback hopes. Just over two minutes later, Dominik Bokk levelled the score at 5-5 with a blistering slapshot.

Penalty Shootout Heroics

With the game tied at the end of regulation time, the contest moved into overtime. Despite both teams generating scoring opportunities, neither side could find the winning goal.

The tension escalated in the penalty shootout, where Schinko stepped up to the plate. With nerves of steel, he calmly deked past Pinguins goaltender Brandon Maxwell to seal the victory for the Grizzlys.

Schinko Leads the Way

Schinko’s heroics were just one chapter in a remarkable collective effort by the Grizzlys. Captain Sebastian Furchner led by example, notching two assists in the comeback victory.

Defenseman Philipp Bruggisser also played a pivotal role, blocking a game-high nine shots and providing an assist on the Grizzlys’ first goal of the third period.

Grizzlys End Winless Run Against Pinguins
