Fire in Hospital Tea Room Causes Extensive Damage
Hessisch Lichtenau, Germany – A fire in the tea room of a clinic in Hessisch Lichtenau caused an estimated 100,000 euros in damage, according to initial estimates.
The fire broke out in the tea room of a recreation area near the emergency room. Approximately 40 firefighters and other emergency personnel responded to the scene to extinguish the blaze and assist with the evacuation.
A total of 23 patients from the second floor of the orthopedic clinic were safely evacuated due to the fire. Both the patients and the clinic staff escaped unharmed.
"The fire was quickly brought under control," said a spokesperson for the fire department. "There were no injuries, and all patients were evacuated safely."
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, preliminary reports indicate that the blaze started in the tea room’s kitchen area.
The fire resulted in significant damage to the tea room and its equipment. The smoke and heat also caused damage to the surrounding areas.
"We are grateful that everyone escaped the fire safely," said the hospital’s director. "We will be working closely with investigators to determine the cause of the fire and prevent similar incidents in the future."
Impact on Patients and Staff
The fire disrupted operations at the clinic, but essential services continued to be provided. Patients who were evacuated from the second floor were temporarily relocated to other areas of the hospital.
"Our staff did an excellent job in responding to the fire," said a hospital spokesperson. "They quickly evacuated the patients and ensured their safety."
The clinic’s staff worked throughout the night to clean up the damage and restore services. The affected areas were expected to reopen within a few days.

The community of Hessisch Lichtenau rallied around the hospital and its staff following the fire. Local businesses and residents donated food, water, and other supplies to the firefighters and evacuated patients.
"We are so grateful for the support we have received from the community," said the hospital director. "It is a reminder that we are all in this together."
